What you'll do

Discover some amazing local artisan workshops! We will meet up in Piazza Santa Croce close to the antique workshop "museum" where extraordinary florentine mosaics landscapes are “painted” with precious stone, just like in the Renaissance. Walking towards the Arno river we will visit the historical artisan goldsmith studio where you will enjoy the authentic creation of impressive handmade pieces of florentine and contemporary style jewelry. At the shoemakers studio in Oltrarno you’ll be amazed by the creation of entirely handmade and bespoke shoes. After a delicious ice cream break in the best ice-cream bar in Florence we will visit some outstanding workshops where furnishing and sculptures are still carved and gilded by hand. Be the spectator of the one-of-a-kind charming creation of hand-marbled paper in some vibrant colors and patterns. We will end the walk with a visit to the skilled and visionary poet leather artisan, who slowly and lovingly create leather bags, wallets or a beautiful belt, absolutely handcrafted and tailored just for you. There is no obligation to purchase anything during the experience.

I'm a graphic designer loving beauty and aesthetics in all its forms. I have always been curious about the Artisans in Florence, so after many years in the office I started knocking doors ajar to get to to know the historical craftsmen and their workshops. After a long period of research and learning about what's behind a true genuine artisan object I finally decided to open up my business, Florentine Experience Shopping and now I’m so happy sharing this great artisan heritage of Florence with you!

The shopping walk is concentrated "off the beaten track" in the hidden alleys of Florence and the buzzy and authentic “Oltrarno” area on the left bank of the Arno River the heart of artisan culture where most of the workshops grew during centuries and still influence today's artists and artisans.
