What you'll do
You'll step right into our atypical 17th century apartment of old Paris, including its amazing Steinway grand piano, hardly ever seen or heard outside a major concert hall. You'll sit close up to discover master works by Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann interlaced with some commentary and a contemporary American and English poem or two. Share your thoughts while listening to this specially curated list of calming and evocative works. Learn or deepen your understanding about their meaning. Share your story with other guests over a glass of good French wine and nibbles before you go for dinner in one of the exquisite restaurants close by. Born in France, raised in Germany, the USA and Japan, I am a concert pianist and author, and passionate about the interdisciplinary arts. Since graduating from Harvard and Cambridge I’ve been teaching music for many years and this intimate, audience-interactive experience unites music, poetry and commentary in a unique way, exploring a carefully curated list of musico-poetic masterworks across history ranging from JS Bach and Mozart to John Cage. Guided by the idea of restful silence in our lives, the venue — a haven of peace and quiet at the heart of historical Paris — lets you savour the finest nuances of a Steinway Concert Grand piano, rarely ever seen in a private setting. And you're invited to contribute with your favourite poem to bring along and share.
