What you'll do
Come with me on a gentle half-day walk in the mountains above Cusco, either in the morning or in the afternoon. This lovely, quiet walk is a perfect introduction to walking in the highlands. It follows a gushing stream in a beautiful picturesque valley. The valley runs from the hills above Cusco back to Cusco, but it is so untravelled that it feels as if it were a hundred miles from the city ! We meet in Cusco (at Iglesia Recoleta) and take private or public transport for 15 minutes out of town and up the hill. Once at the starting point, we edge around a ruin onto a little-known pathway, and proceed back down the valley by foot, following the stream through lush terrain, a forest, and past some striking Inca ruins. We stop at the ruins to look around, and then we keep going on a track that flanks a land-slipped mountainside until we suddenly step out of the valley and into Cusco. * Forgive my English; it is a work in progress.
Usually public transport, but also private transport with Aló Cusco company if that is preferred.
Hi, I'm Fortunata. I am a friendly, happy and chirpy Peruvian woman. I come from a remote, Andean rural village. I speak Spanish, Quechua, Italian and some English. I have been working in tourism for ten years and I have been guiding treks for two years. As a local guide, I know the mountain treks around Cusco inside out. I want to take you on beautiful secret walks which are off the beaten track and rarely visited by other tourists.

Where you'll be
The whole hike is deep in a valley surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs. We follow a track parallel to a gorgeous stream all the way. After an hour of walking we arrive at Inca ruins that are rarely visited.
