What you'll do

Join us for a day of rocket-building in our workshop. You'll get a closeup look at how space exploration has transformed into a hobby—and vice versa—by a community of passionate artists and engineers. You'll witness the art of rocketry happening right in front of you, as our volunteers work on current projects. Meanwhile, we'll discuss how it's possible to build rockets with extremely low budgets. You'll see how they work, with hands-on explanations using our own built engines, boosters, capsules, and hardware. Finally, you'll get to experience the feeling of sitting in a space capsule, waiting for the moment to be launched into space.

Learn more about Sarunas

Sarunas

I am part of the world's only manned amateur space program, called Copenhagen Suborbitals, which is run exclusively by volunteers. We have been launching crowd-funded rockets from the Baltic Sea since 2011 and have over 10 years of experience building them. Now, after our sixth successful rocket launch last summer, we are starting to realize our dream of building a full size, astronaut-carrying rocket that will reach above the edge of space and safely come back down to Earth. Depending on my availability, this experience may be led by my co-hosts Mads and Ignacio. Our flight dynamics officer and IT specialist, respectively. We will notify you upfront.

Where you'll be

Our workshop is based in Refshaleøen, the old industrial Burmeister & Wain shipyard. Our workshop is dubbed HAB 2—Horizontal Assembly Building, as a reference to NASA's VAB. We use it to build large rockets and house our previous crafts.
