What you'll do
You'll ride the train South from Dublin for 40 minutes along the scenic coastline to reach the starting point in Killiney. Our adventure from sea to summit begins with a revitalising walk along the beach. We'll climb over boulders and take in the beautiful panoramic views as the fresh breeze from the Irish Sea energizes us for the upcoming ascent of 153 metres. Over 300 quick paced steps up the hillside and through the trees make the stops to admire the scenery even more satisfying. Look out for buzzards soaring overhead and squirrels hopping between the trees as we approach the hilltop. The 275 year old monument at the summit is a perfect place to stop for a drink, to catch our breath and enjoy the spectacular views spreading out in all directions. We'll descend under the canopy and through the famous rock-climbing quarry before ascending to the second view point. We'll be treated to an inspiring view across Dublin bay, Dun Laoghaire harbour and the entire city. The final descent takes us through the woods and towards our end point completing approximately 5.5km (3.5miles).
Light snacks to fuel our adventure.
Water and a variety of soda.
Ponchos or sun glasses - depending on the weather!
