What you'll do
Take a scenic drive out into the foothills and meet me at an easily accessible parking lot to organize the day. There I will supply you with all the safety gear needed for climbing. Depending on the weather and the group's ambitions, I will determine what is the best crag and we will shortly drive over. Most crags will be less than a 10 minute drive from our meet up spot, and will require short hikes. Once we are at the base of the rock, we will go ahead and discuss the basics of rock climbing. I'll cater the discussion to your knowledge and interests. Then we will go ahead and set up fun climbs for you to enjoy. Differently skilled individuals can climb different routes, and everyone can push themselves as hard or as easy as they'd like. Whether you'd like to learn about the basics of belaying, climbing technique, placing gear, building anchors, or any other aspect that you are interested in, we'll make sure you walk away satisfied. Naturally we will take photos throughout the session for your current (or future) grandkids. The day will fly by. We will then coil the ropes, sort the gear, and head home with stories to share.
I am an avid rock climber and new route developer in the front range of Colorado. I have numerous first ascents in the area, and always am on the lookout for new unclimbed rock. No matter where climbing takes me and how hard I push myself, some of my favorite days are spent guiding others and witnessing new climbers fall in love with the sport.
A limited number of climbing shoes are available. We may not have your size. Bring running or hiking shoes as an alternative.
All necessary safety equipment will be provided , including helmets, harnesses and ropes.

Where you'll be
Some crags will require nice hikes through wildflower speckled meadows, and some will be right off the road. It all depends on the day (Colorado weather is fickle after all) and the ambitions of the group. Some areas have been developed by myself, and most are unknown by the typical Colorado climber. On the busiest front range day we'll find quiet, friendly, uncrowded rock.
