What you'll do
We will meet in the parking lot for Ice glen. We will walk across the bridge over the Housatonic River and then begin with a short yoga and mindfulness session to ground you in the experience of being outdoors with your body-mind. I encourage participants to enjoy barefoot walking if weather allows. Breathe deeply in the Berkshire air! We begin our journey, cross the railroad tracks and on the trail. As we journey we will make stops to explore the native flora (plants and trees) and fauna (animals and critters) . I can give you plenty of information about the history of the area and the therapeutic uses of plants as we hike. Our hike takes us through the geological wonder of ice glen, a glacial boulder field which is often icy or snowy from November well into June! When we complete our journey through Ice glen there is a lovely resting spot. Here we will enjoy a short 20-30 minute yoga session before we begin our return journey back to the car. Once back to the car we will finish with some mindful movement and if time allows, a snack! We use no equipment just ourselves and the natural surroundings - rocks, trees and the earth! (maximum of 8 guests). Each of the Guided yoga lessons will last between 20-30 minutes. I enjoy speaking with people about their experiences; if you're new to the area or just visiting I offer local knowledge on places to stay, eat, etc.!
I teach bespoke yoga and meditation to unique folks. Runners, Amputees and folks wanting to deepen their yoga practice come to me for a private or small group lesson. Practicing out of doors deepens the experience connecting you to yourself and the environment you are in. Stockbridge offers incredibly beautiful spaces of Ice Glen, Laura's Tower Overlook and Stockbridge Bowl for practice locations. My qualifications as a yoga teacher include 200 hours basic YTT and 500 hours advanced mindfulness and yoga for backpain from BodhiYoga. My knowledge of local hiking trails, flora and fauna is extensive. I can teach you about local wildflowers and their medicinal and therapeutic uses. I am also a keen runner represented the country of Scotland (where I lived for 14 years ) in international and cross country running.
homemade muffins (berry, pumpkin or banana) or vegan energy balls (either chocolate/peppermint or pecan/chocolate) at the end…
Where you'll be
The trails in and around Stockbridge are unique spaces of both natural and anthropological history. Guests will enjoy time in Ice Glen, important because of it's glacial history and anthropological history. Ice Glen is a boulder field which separated from the adjoining mountainsides and fell to the bottom of the v-shaped valley after the end of the last glacial period over 11,000 years ago. We will also see Massachusetts' oldest pine tree!
