What you'll do
Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) consists of unmounted lessons that include engaging activities with horses that teach character development and promote social and emotional growth. Giant Steps staff will collaborate with the participants to establish specific goals. A few of the benefits of EFL include: -Collaboration and teamwork -Communication -Confidence -Emotional identification -Perseverance -Self-awareness -Awareness of others -Trust -Boundary setting -Understanding of equine behavior -Increased horsemanship skills Sessions will start with an introduction of participants and equines to discover experience, comfort level, and goals for the session. Participants will learn to groom (brush) their horses and will learn the basics of horse behavior. Next we will lead horses in patterns to establish relationships and work on boundary setting. Finally, we will work with the horses at liberty, either connecting with them in a join-up (for single participants) or working as a team to communicate with the horse and other team members.
