About your host

We're Konnie and Liz. Konnie has volunteered and served on the Board of the Seymour Marine Discovery Center at the Long Marine Lab for over three years. As decades-long California residents, Monterey Bay completely caught Liz and Konnie's attention for its diversity of sea life. The migrations of animals that call this bay home are worth learning more about, for both locals and visitors alike.

What we’ll do

First, we’ll meet at Natural Bridges State Park to explore tide pools and learn about the history of Monterey Bay from the 1960s to the present day. Then, you’ll be given a personal introduction to the live marine animal exhibit at the Seymour Marine Center—entrance tickets included. Pet a swell shark. Tickle sea stars. Watch sea life up close and in action.

What else you should know

Bring your camera. We also recommend you bring sunscreen, a light jacket, hat, and close-toed shoes for tide pooling and variable weather.
