What you'll do
I will take you on a walking tour of Shimokitazawa or Koenji, two of the most interesting areas in Tokyo in terms of fashion, music, food, architecture, design, theater and art. These two areas are known for the "Indie" scenes and I will take you to many shops and places that are very hidden and could not be found without a guide. One of the main parts of the tour is giving you information about all the incredible bars and restaurants in the area. If you would like, I will book you one of these amazing restaurants for after the tour, help you order if there is no English menu and then leave you to enjoy your meal. Both of these areas are filled with small lanes and some of the places we will visit are very cozy so it is important both in terms of not disturbing the locals and also enhancing the experience to keep the groups small. I have set a limit of 4 guests per tour but please contact me if you have a larger group and other plans may be possible. If you have some experience in Japan, then you will know that finding out the really good things here requires a sense of adventure, luck and a lot of time so if your time is short then I can help you get straight to the good spots. The intricacies of Tokyo are infinite and shops and eateries change at a stunning pace so something that was on a website last week, may have morphed into some other kind of establishment this week.

Where you'll be
We will visit stores (related to fashion, art, music, books, and design) and buildings that are historic and important to the areas and explanations of these places will be given. The areas are also very well known for their coffee scenes so we can stop for coffee if guests would like. There are also some shrines which can be visited if guests are interested in seeing them.
