What you'll do

After a short walk through a beautiful forest you will reach our place where we will welcome you at our houses and offer you something to drink while we start the introduction about bees and beekeeping. Before visiting the actual alive bee families I will take you to my hive deposit and give a quick introduction to the shape of the hives and the biology of bees. Then we will put on the beekeeper's suit and go visit the bees. I will also give you a quick safety instruction. I have 30 bee families and together we will inspect some. Calmly I will let you take out some frames and let you explore the various stages of the brood, worker bees, drones, queen, pollen, honey, propolis, royal jelly. Don't worry it is not dangerous. After that I will show you my laboratory for extracting the honey. It depends on the period if we can do the actual extraction. Finally we are going to taste some of my different types of honey with homemade bread and tea or coffee. You will finish your experience with a relaxing walk through the woods to go back to your car.

Marc

I studied chemistry and environmental technology. I live together with my Italian wife and daughter in the middle of a forest at the beginning of the mountains of the Apennines where we have an AirBnB and we also practice beekeeping already for 7 years. Our beehives are situated in a beautiful natural area that provides the perfect environment for the bees to produce the purest honey. I love to talk about bees and their fascinating biology, the super organism, their complex life cycle, how the life of every human on earth is so closely related to bees without most of us even realizing it.
