About AfricaNola with nonprofit fiscal agent National Performance Network

AfricaNola's mission is to preserve and share the cultural connections between West Africa, the Caribbean, and New Orleans which have been richly intertwined in our cities heritage for the past 300 years. Since our inception in 2007 we have organized multiple festivals, workshops, classes,etc. & have performed throughout the region at festivals, nite clubs, schools,and community centers.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to AfricaNola with nonprofit fiscal agent National Performance Network. .

What we’ll do

1. Short meet and greet, introductions, Q&A 2. Afro New Orleans drum circle, no experience required, everyone is most welcome. Basic techniques will be demonstrated briefly, but the focus is to have fun. This is not a drum class. 3. Where you'll be

Louis Armstrong Park Just outside the french quarter, home of the Mahalia Jackson Theater and Municipal Auditorium. Many historical statues and sculptures including Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, and many more. Congo Square A sacred space within Armstrong Park, Congo Square was first home to Native Americans of the region and then the main gathering space for enslaved Africans to play drums, sing, dance and share their culture.
