What you'll do

You'll enjoy a guided 'silent' hike through the mountains around the Magic Town of Creel with a Raramuri Indian guide. Your guide will not speak English, though he does speak Spanish. The idea though is not to talk at all on this Silent Hike, but rather to experience the beauty and nature of this amazing region in the same silence that the Raramuri Indians do. The Indians do not speak much, not even amongst themselves, but instead simply walk through the world as a part of it, rather than in opposition to it as most cultures around the world tend to do. They absorb, and become a part of the nature around them. On this hike, you too will allow yourself, through the artful practice of silence, to immerse yourself into the world of the Raramuri Indian as you learn to glide through the forest and hills as they do; using an easy to moderate pace your Indian guide will lead you through unknown sections of the San Ignacio Ejido where you will find peace, tranquility and maybe even a bit more of your true self before it is over.

I built the gazebo in the main plaza in Creel when I was 18 years old, and have guided countless documentary and film crews through the Copper Canyon throughout the years. Where you'll be

You'll be hiking through the San Ignacio Valley outside of the Magic Town of Creel, along trails that wander through forests, along small cliff edges with a view of the Conchos River that runs across the Continental Divide, through the Valley of the Monks and past Lake Arareko. However, we could do a different version of this hike, depending on the weather and ability of the group.
