About your host

As a professional fishing guide and adjunct professor of the fly fishing class at Montana State University, I have ample opportunities to teach and share my passion for the sport of fly fishing with folks of all abilities and experience, which is a good thing because it's what I love to do most in life. What we’ll do

We will meet at a local park for a brief overview of the ins and outs of fly fishing here in Montana and then we'll jump right in! The goal of this experience is to leave attendees with the knowledge and confidence to go out on their own and fly fish successfully in the future. With that in mind, we will first learn about the equipment we'll be using, including the rod and reel, line, leader,…

What else you should know

I am more than happy to work with fly fishers of any and all abilities and first timers, and don't be intimidated! It's family sport and we all had to start somewhere!

What I’ll provide

Food
Let me know if you'd like me to pick up lunches for the group from www.cateredlunchesbycravins.com and I'll pick em' up prior
Drinks
Water as well as a variety of soft drinks will be provided.
Equipment
All fly fishing equipment will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have it with you!

We'll be outdoors, so please plan accordingly, i.e., sunscreen, hats, rain jackets, proper footwear.

Clothes you can move around in... Fly fishing is an active sport!

Where you'll be

Here in Bozeman we have many beautiful parks with lots of open space to spread out and practice our casting, and in many cases, right alongside a beautiful stream. We'll meet at Bogert Park, conveniently located near downtown Bozeman with ample room and a covered space in case of inclement weather.

Guest safety

Outdoor activities carry risks, and you may be exposed to dangerous situations as part of this experience. Make sure you can participate safely given your abilities and the conditions (such as location, weather, and equipment).
