What you'll do

Cooking and getting to know the Amanalli project and its secrets, to get to this place we will pedal (optional) from the central area, following the route of the old trajineras (we will consider the historical importance of this Ruth) until arriving to the pier of Caltongo (appointment for all the participants) there we will enter the space of the project Amanalli where we will make a tour of the chinampa to know what this cultural project consists of, which seeks to rescue the traditions of the ancestral Xochimilca culture with various activities focused on environmental preservation. To start our activities we will make a harvest of the ingredients that we will use in the elaboration of our dishes, once gathered the ingredients we will begin to explain how we will carry out this dish, the history of ingrediets, while we prepare a snack that we will accompany with a traditional Mexican drink (surprise), we will talk about the importance of food in the territory of ancient Mexico. At the end of the elaboration of our dish we will proceed to taste it while we talk about the ancient codex Badiano, this is the first herbarium of medicinal plants whose history shows the connection of the ancient Tlatelolco and Xochimilco (The Amanalli project has one of the few copies that exist of said codex).

Your hosts

Since a very young girl I have used the bicycle as a means of transport, sport and fun, I have belonged to various cycling and cultural collectives in the CDMX and I have been involved in activities of them to date. Since 10 years ago I started to become passionate about Mexican food and because I was vegetarian and lived alone I learned to make typical dishes, I share my knowledge and the pleasure of food with my friends so I organize days in which we live together making dishes. In this way I had the opportunity to get closer to the Xochimilca community and culture.

Where you'll be

We will start the cycle route following the old route of the trajineras from the center of the old Tenochtitlan to the pier of Caltongo, to reach the chinampa that houses the Amanalli project; one of the most beautiful chinampas which is also very important in the history of Xochimilco, and therefore for the history of Mexico.
