What you'll do
This is a culture walk to the urban Filipino's way of life. This includes cultural trivia and food-tasting of local delicacies you find agreeable to. For adventurous and brave foodies, the infamous "balut" is on. So be ready! We will start by meeting at Market-Market mall. We will then make our way to the nearby urban communities of Makati. We will explore the streets and narrow alleyways that connect the original settlers and the local migrant workers from far flung provinces of the country. We will then explore the local wet markets called talipapa. Our last stop is Pateros, the place of original balut-makers in the country. The adventurous may want to take this rare chance of eating balut from where it came from. From Pateros, I will take you back to Market-Market Mall to close the tour. Here are a few examples of foods I deem safe for you to try (which are included included in the tour): balut, penoy, inutak, suman, turon... These are considered desserts (even the balut), so have a little breakfast beforehand. It is recommended to not eat balut on an empty stomach.
Hi, my name is Jo. I live in one of the urban communities in the metro which is home for the last decade. Over the years, I have come to love the urban way of life as much as I love the rural way. I hail from the beautiful land of Mindanao; however, I must admit that I am now as much of a city girl, despite all the hustle and bustle of the big city. I find the uniquely vibrant and bustling communities fascinating. So much to see, do and discover, even for a local like me; And I'd like to share all these with you, you curious and adventurous one. So let's go, and see more of the real world!
Balut is a recommended must for the adventurous foodie. For the rest, I can make food introduction and recommendations and it…
