About your host

What we’ll do

Did you know that you can make paper, turn it into art and take home the coolest souvenir ever? People have been making paper for hundreds of years. It is actually very easy to do. I will show you how we start with leaves, such as iris and day lily, cook them, beat them in a professional machine or a blender, and then pour them over a screen to make paper. We will not make plain white paper…

What else you should know

Don't wear your best clothes. My studio is wheelchair accessible. Please let me know ahead of time if you will be using a wheelchair so that everything will be set up ahead of time.

What I’ll provide

Snacks
Juice, Tea and Water
We will stop for a break with drinks of your choice.
Creative supplies
A Holland beater will be used to take leaves and turn it into pulp for making paper. It has a cylinder with metal ridges which is turned by a motor. The cylinder is in an "O" shaped tub of water. The leaves are churned in a circle under the cylinder allowing the ridges to beat it.

Where you'll be

A professional artist studio will be the place that we will make our paper. French doors open into the garden where we will collect leaves for making into pulp.
