What you'll do

This experience is an introduction — through your sense — to mindfulness, Yunnan tea, and tea brewing. Most of our minds are racing too fast, it is filled with distractions and thoughts, and we grow increasingly unsettled. Mindfulness is the practice of experiencing things just as they are, unaltered by our thoughts. We want to give people a taste of mindfulness through tea, and a (real) taste of Yunnan tea through mindfulness. And to share it in the most direct, effective, and interesting way, through experience. Join us for some tea and together we'll let time evaporate away, slowly, one cup at a time The Tea Session - The tea session will be split into two parts. The first is guided but mostly silent (during the tea drinking). The second we could delve deeper into our experiences or into the the teas. - We will slowly drink our way through 2 different teas from Yunnan region (one per session) - The tea drinking itself is the meditation, and the process itself is your teacher. - For each tea we drink we will be paying close attention to its flavours and aromas whilst at the same time watching ourselves; our sensory reactions to the tea, our emotions, and our thoughts. *If booking is for 2 or less, guests have the option to do some brewing in the 2nd session. Location - Our tea space is in a quiet little courtyard hidden behind the main square

I am the founder of Tea Slowly, a project for promoting mindfulness through tea. My fascination is not with just any tea but with Yunnan's Puer tea. When aged, its effects on the mind and body is unlike any other beverages I’d tried. I’ve been actively practising mindfulness meditation since 2012. I’d first came across it as a professional poker player where calmness and emotional stability in high intensity situations were necessary attributes. The positive effects of mindfulness can be felt almost immediately and what I’d learned very quickly was that the benefits had spilled over to all areas of my life. I naturally continued practicing it. I did so as a startup founder, then as a futures trader, and now just someone living in a small village in the mountains of Yunnan.

Where you'll be

We will be drinking tea at our tea space (and our home). It is tucked away in a quiet corner in the centre of town, designed for us to slow down and quiet the mind for a little while.
