What you'll do

The tour will start at Tianguis Cultural del Chopo, a market with more than 200 stands related to the countercultural scene in Mexico. At stands you will be able tu buy (or just see) punks, gothic (or other) clothes and accessories, music, posters or pamphlets on anarchism. You will also find at the market musicians playing and artists engraving on paper. They could teach you how to make your own piece if you are feeling like learning. We will make a brief stop in the great Vasconcelos library to appreciate its architecture from the inside. We will eat at the place that sells the largest quesadillas of Mexico City overlooking the iconic Morisco kiosk where the tour ends <3.

Yuriria

I studied Political Science and International Relations, but work as a journalist. The combination of all the above makes me have a broad knowledge of the city's past and present. My own curiosity as a reporter has allowed me to discover many places, flavors, stories and people in Mexico City that I would love to share with the people visiting my beautiful city <3.

Where you'll be

El Chopo emerged in 1980 as a cultural proposal to promote the independent music scene. Later in order to expand the voice of anti-cultural movements, a communitary radio station and a printing press was created inside the Chopo market. Craftsmen and artists also joined the market to sell and share their creations. El Chopo is a place that has accompanied me since I was 14, in all my changes of style, identity and ways of seeing the world.
