What you'll do
We'll meet at the Beaufort boat launch where I'll have the kayaks laid out and ready to use. After a quick life jacket fitting we'll launch and kayak up Taylor Creek, keeping to the island side of the channel, spotting wildlife that frequents the area. We'll continue to various spots that provide the best opportunity to go ashore and spot the wild horses that live on the islands.
I'll provide the kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, a cooler, a dry bag to keep items in, and can take pictures along the tour for…
I guide kayak tours of the Rachel Carson National Estuarine Sanctuary in Beaufort, NC. I've been kayaking and guiding for over 10 years and have spent vast amounts of time on the water boating, kayaking, fishing, and diving. I love guiding here because of the unique natural beauty and wildlife the reserve provides in such close proximity to Beaufort's shops and restaurants. I have experience in all types of kayaking from surfing, rapids, lakes, and open ocean fishing.

Where you'll be
The majority of the trip will be in Taylor creek, the body of water between the mainland and the Rachel Carson Reserve. The reserve is known for its unique flora and extensive wildlife populations. We'll be in and on Carrot island, a more remote part of the reserve accessible only by private boat or kayak. There are no official trails here but plenty of easy walking to explore the island.
