What you'll do

This is a unique night where live Jazz meets short independent film, feature film and animation (EG. Matrix, Tom and Jerry, Charlie Chaplin), lead by Canadian trumpeter Jay Phelps. Having never seen the films previously, the musicians are constantly on their toes as they navigate through their improvised score, while complimenting the film as the story unfolds. Prepare for a truly engaging experience for both the audience and musicians alike. We call this night OST (Original Soundtrack). Twice a month, you can expect to hear internationally acclaimed artists, performing one full set of Jazz music, followed by another set where the band will improvise to the films that have been specifically picked for that evening. ‘OST’ is becoming quite popular amongst the new generation of London's Jazz community, which means an impromptu Jam session is also never far away. The setting for this unique event is also unique in itself. Library, is one of London’s premier members clubs and a central hub for professional creatives. Your ticket will give you rare access to the club for the entire evening as a member, so feel free to mingle with the other members. We hope you have a great experience!

I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada but have been living, performing and hosting events in London for nearly 20 years. I am one of the UK's leading trumpet players and band leaders. I'm the co-founder of the 'Late show' at Ronnie Scott's and was the musical director of the Hippodrome Casino. “...he has been compared to Wynton Marsalis, but Phelps has much more of a playful side to his approach.” All About Jazz “Suave trumpeter Jay Phelps has serious jazz chops – his technique is second to none and he’s a great entertainer too.” Time Out, London
