What you'll do

Forest Therapy, also known as “Shinrin-Yoku,” refers to the practice of spending time in Nature for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness. This is not just a walk in the forest, and it's also not hiking. I will guide you slowly and intentionally through nature over 2.5 hours, covering no more than 1 km. Through a series of 'invitations', you will be facilitated to awaken your senses to deepen your connection with yourself, with nature, and with others. The Japanese words, Shinrin-Yoku, translate into English as “Forest Bathing.” Although inspired by the Japanese practice our use of the terms Forest Therapy and Shinrin-Yoku do not mean a specifically Japanese practice. We mean spending time in nature in a way that invites healing interactions. There is a long tradition of this in cultures throughout the world. It’s not just about healing people; it includes healing for the forest, river, or desert - whatever environment you are in. For articles and research abstracts on the effects of Forest Bathing, please see the links at: https://www.natureandforesttherapy.org/about/science ** I do need to have at least 2 people booked to do the walk, or I will cancel with 48 hours notice.

Maria

I am inspired and fuelled by Nature, and am Certified as a Forest Therapy Guide by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides (ANFT). The ANFT is the leading global voice for forest therapy, setting the standards for nature and forest therapy guides worldwide. Born in Vancouver, I first began guiding people in Nature in 1986 when I was a horseback guide in Jasper (in the Canadian Rockies) and Australia, and went on to guide walking tours in Italy for Butterfield & Robinson.

What's included

Food
There is a forest tea ceremony at the end of the walk and I'll provide a light snack as well.
Equipment
