What you'll do
Barcelona is more than only Gaudí! Join this combined modernist walking tour and mosaic workshop. Get to know about architectural gems and create your own modernist mosaic - a great souvenir to take home with you! During the 1,5 hours walk we will make the connection from medieval Catalan history and legends to what inspired modernist architects when designing their magnificent buildings in the late 19th century and early 20th century. From fountains to stone bats – all have a story that we want to tell you! After the walk you will discover details you have not noticed before. You will see the city with different eyes! The walk will lead us to Angelika´s workshop where you will learn the mosaic technique named “Trencadís”. As you will have discovered during the walk, this technique - using materials such as shards of glass, ceramics or mirrors - can be found on many Catalan Modernism buildings. After a short introduction she will show you the basics, handling of tools and how to create your first masterpiece in ceramics such as a frame, top of a box, heart or square. This will be a great memory to take home!
Angelika And Christian
Angelika: When I came to Barcelona 27 years ago, I was impressed by the works of Gaudí. This made me specialising in mosaic art and offering classes in my workshop in the Born area. In 2016 the Catalan President rewarded me with a master craftsman certificate for my skills, being an ambassador of cultural traditions. Christian & Michael: When coming to Barcelona 7 years ago we developed a passion for its architecture, rich history and the many legends that can be found all over the city. Turning passion into profession we became tour guides specialising in Gaudí and historic walking routes.
