What you'll do
In this experience, I am going to bring you on a guided tour at our farm. It takes about 30 minutes in this session. So what you'll be doing is feeding grass to goats, they'd loved to see you coming to them with food on your hand. While in the goat farm, you can pat the goats, taking selfies with them, and even holding a baby goat. In order to keep goats in healthy condition, observing goat's behavior is a daily routine for dairy farmers. If you don't know what and why are they(goats) doing at the farm, you'll never know when or how they're going to leave(die) you anytime. Milking with bare hands is NOT RECOMMENDED at our farm. This is because goats from Saanen Dairy Goat Farm are not native goats, they are all imported from Australia through an agent. They have comparatively weaker immune system compared to our local goats. So, to avoid mastitis(breast infection), we will show you how the milking is done by machine instead of hands. Next, we will proceed to pasteurize goat's milk in a traditional way. We will also share some knowledge relating preserving goat's milk in a natural way. In the end of this experience, you will get to taste our handcrafted dairy goat products.
Dairy products are basically fresh goat's milk, yogurt drinks and some milk-based desserts.
We will provide transportation back and forth as it is a little bit challenging to get here, farm is located at countryside.
I've been helping out at my father's dairy goat farm for over 14 years since year 2005. For the first 4 years, our intention was to supply freshly pasteurized goat's milk to the locals. However in year 2009, my parents have decided to open the farm to public so more and more people can get to know our existence. In this way, we can share our knowledge about dairy goat farming and supply fresh goat's milk to the locals. It’s been 10 years that we have provided guided tour and workshop to big groups. We have shared how we produce good quality dairy products to all who have visited our farm tour.
