What you'll do
We will meet at The Kakawa Chocolate House (Flagship): 1050 Paseo De Peralta. From here we'll walk the length of the historic Canyon Road; famous for the numerous picturesque scenery, Art galleries and Adobe buildings. There is so much to photograph here! This is a creative workshop on how to really 'see' through the viewfinder and discover new ways to take photos. Using your phones or cameras, I will give advice and feed back on how to capture a real sense of Santa Fe where you'll learn some simple ways to create great images using close ups, unusual angles and viewpoints as well as discovering good subject matter, and how to deal with tricky light. We will also venture along some more 'hidden' alleys, where artists have studios and galleries which you may wish to return later. When we arrive near the top of Canyon Road we'll take a break at The Teahouse where they have an enormous variety of teas, coffees and light or heavier fare. After this you can stroll back along Canyon Road with your newly 'tuned eye' to capture more images and complete the experience back at The Kakawa Chocolate House where we began. You may wish to sample some of their wonderful chocolate! NB: If it turns out that just one person books, as they will have one on one 100% attention, the time will be 1 1/2 hours.
After a successful career as a freelance photographer in London, UK where I was born, I moved to Santa Fe in 2004. Here, I taught at the renowned Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and was represented by one of the local Art galleries. I have had at least 25 books published of my work comprising many subjects: Food, Gardening, Health, Lifestyle and Travel. I love teaching small groups and my main aim is to dispel the myth that you need a good camera to take a good photo.
