What you'll do
We will find ourselves in front of the entrance of the Mon Repos swimming pool. We will start by discovering the specificities of this park, and what surrounds it. Then we will go to see the old town, with among other things, a visit to the cathedral. This viewpoint, at the heart of the city's history, will give you a unique perspective, a true journey back in time. We will continue on to a more modern Lausanne, from the industrial era to the Flon area. How did this district, long obscure, become the new heart of the city? And where does this strange name come from, the "flon"? Finally, we will go down to the lake to discover the many anecdotes relating to the shores of Lake Geneva. We will finish with a drink in the café of one of the most prestigious hotels in the world, where great names in history, such as Coco Chanel, have enjoyed their stay.
After living in the Caribbean, German Switzerland, French Jura, Burgundy and Austria, I finally settled in Lausanne in 2010. Although I am a mechanical engineer, I am passionate about culture. I wondered for a long time how Lausanne had grown up, with such a complex topography. After reading, visiting and discussing, I was able to understand who Lausanne really is. This city has evolved with the times, without ever losing the traces of its history.
