What you'll do

I will welcome you in my workshop, where you will get to make your own notebook in a five hour session. You will start by deciding what type of notebook you want to make; ruled, blank, squared or dotted notebook; recipe book; travel log; or a planner. Then you will choose all the materials for your notebook; fabrics, cardboard, ribbon, and headbands. I will guide you through the process of bookbinding: from sewing the booklets together, all the way to pasting your "text block" to the cover. There will be a coffee break where we will get to know each other a little better, in the garden just outside the workshop. At the end of the session you will walk out with a finished notebook totally made by you, and you can start using it right away.

Rosa

On a trip to Shanghai I took back in 2015, I prayed to Buddah in every temple I came upon to help me find a way out of a job I didn't like anymore. Few days later I saw the cutest handmade notebook store in Xintiandi, and I took that as the signal I needed to turn my life around. When I came back to México I started learning bookbinding, and three months later I founded Folia, a bookbinding brand where I design and custom-make notebooks, diaries, travel logs, planners and journals. As a graphic designer, I mix my interest in editorial design, with the delight of making notebooks by hand.
