What you'll do

We will meet at a disclosed location, communicated in good time by me - this will be based on level. I will be relying on you to accurately communicate your surfing level as I am happy giving some technique tips but I am not an instructor and am mostly interested in showing 'intermediate' level surfers, and above, the beautiful coastal area around Aljezur. I will not be supplying equipment, unless unique requests are made in good time - I can, however, suggest competitive rental options in the immediate area. After a brief breakdown of what spots are best to surf in, and explaining the risks posed by the breaks, tides, rocks, sandbanks etc. we will get ready and head into the water. After a 1.5-2 hour session, dependent, again, on your preferences, we can, if desired, go through some follow-on activities for you to do after the session (such as places to go out, other sporting opportunities and cultural suggestions) for you to really get to know this part of Portugal.

Learn more about Fergal

Fergal

Having had the pleasure to have access to one of the most glorious parts of southern Europe (the relatively undiscovered west coast of St. Vicentina) for the better part of two decades, my knowledge of the surfing spots along the southwestern coast of Portugal is extensive. My ability to host this particular experience stems from the amount of time spent in the water. Having started surfing aged 10, and with three younger brothers who I have taught, my level and comfort in the waters around Aljezur provide an environment for surfers hoping to further their ability and to discover the Algarve!

What's included

Drinks
Water
Equipment
Wax, fin screw, sunscreen etc.

Where you'll be

It obviously depends on the swell. But, small spots (unnamed), include point breaks of well-known beaches such as Praia da Arrifana, Monté Clerigo, Amado, Zavial, and Sagres, as well as lesser-known and quite inaccessible locations such as Praia do Canal and Carriagem.

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 6 guests ages 18 and up can attend. Guests should have prior surfing experience. I am not an instructor, but I will be happy to help anyone who wants to improve on an existing skill set - but not teach.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

I would love to help with any questions so just shoot me a question. Im not in country all year round!
