What you'll do

Discover the delicious mom-and-pop shops of this local Brooklyn neighborhood and experience how food is the engine of our local ecosystem. Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill have a vibrant mix of small, locally-owned, and artisanal food shops unlike almost any other neighborhood in America.

We visit both old school haunts and new culinary entrepreneurs to experience an exciting menu of both traditional flavors and daring dishes. We stop by Italian and Middle Eastern shops that have long been the staple of the neighborhood, and explore the growing scene of cafes and restaurants specializing in New American cuisine. While we enjoy their delicacies, we learn about the neighborhood’s rich history and changing character.

From Italian pastry stores, coffee roasters, an historic Middle Eastern bakery, and a modern soda fountain, we'll dive deep into the authentic food culture. ALL FOOD TASTINGS INCLUDED!

I am an actor, food blogger, and tour guide who loves to explore the local side of a city. One of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC for food is the Brooklyn area of Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill. Along with my team, I want to share this under-the-radar local neighborhood with others through the food shops that make this one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city. We've been running other successful AirBnB experiences including Taste History in the Lower East Side and the New York Craft Cocktail Tour.

Alex was an informative and gracious host and guide on our tour of Brooklyn foods. From old to new with interesting bits of history sprinkled in. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and get to know the neighborhood. - Laura

We toured with Alex, who expertly guided us through Brooklyn's storied past and the evolution of its rich food history. The food samplings were diverse and more substantial than we'd experienced during other food tours, so you should anticipate coming hungry and leaving full. A great experience all around.

Brian was a great guide - engaging and knowledgeable. We had a great time overall, but it was very carb heavy - all delicious, but a bit too heavy and filling compared to other food tours.

I highly recommend this fun, informative and memorable way to get to know this part of Brooklyn. Brian has curated all the unique, specialty, “locals” places so I did not have to waste time money and calorie on mediocre food. He is an entertaining person and intersperses the tour with history, culture and fun stories so you get the benefit of a general Tour but with really good food and drink that gives me a feeling of connection to the place and people. He also thoughtfully gave me a lot of personal recommendations for the rest of my trip in New York. I ended up going back to eat at three of the places again (because they were so much better than places I found myself through online searches) and doing all of his recommended activities, and everything ended up being spot on. It will really make your trip unique and special!

Alex killed it on the tour! Introduced us to some great eateries around Brooklyn and the history behind it. Cannot wait to attend more of these tours, highly recommend to anyone!

Thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour of local food shops. Well paced and interesting and we finished it full but not too full to move. Mary Hannah was a great guide. Would definitely recommend.
