What you'll do
We will begin by meeting near Pier 4 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, gathering at the entrance to the beautiful new park Boathouse. We always start with an on-land orientation to get comfortable with the basics of SUP paddling, and then launch into the protected embayments of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Our groups are small and intimate, with a guide ratio of 5-1 or less. Once on the water we will help everyone individually get up to speed, and when everyone is ready we'll explore our environment. If the group feels comfortable with it, you may paddle up the 'inside passage' - a passageway behind the piers that allow us to move from one embayment to the next. Each session will last approximately one hour and will include expert instruction, friendly encouragement, and shared knowledge of the amazing marine environment surrounding New York City. We welcome absolute beginners, though even the most experienced guest is bound to have fun. We want to introduce as many people as possible to the joys of SUP paddling, and do it in a safe and supportive environment. You will get wet! Dress appropriately and bring a change of clothes for when you're done.
Tom Potter - ACA Level 4 Instructor Matt Frey - ACA Level 3 Instructor Noah Dear - ACA Level 3 Instructor Stef Stannard - ACA Level 2 Instructor We love putting people on the water for a fun, safe experience. Each of us has a decade or more of paddling experience and a deep knowledge of the local waters and marine environment. In addition to instructing for The Kayak Foundation, we are each active in multiple volunteer paddling organizations and act as lead guides for Brooklyn Bridge Park's youth kayaking program, which is by far the largest in the region.
About the organization
The Kayak Foundation

Our youth kayaking program, in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, is the largest in New York. We offer a comprehensive array of formal ACA trainings and certifications, which arre open to all.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to The Kayak Foundation.
We provide all the equipment you'll need: Stand-Up-Paddleboard; paddle; and life jacket.

Where you'll be
We launch from One15 Marina in Brooklyn Bridge Park, between piers 3 and 5. This is the first new Marina built in New York City in over 50 years. Most of our paddling will take place in the protected waters between the Marina and Pier 3, which is also home to one of the few sandy beaches in all of the upper Harbor. Depending on conditions we may also paddle up the 'inside passage' to enjoy the next two embayments to the north.
