The Hippodrome of Constantinople; Learn about the early Roman history of the city. Hear the stories behind the Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpentine Column. The Blue Mosque; built for Sultan Ahmet, enjoy the serene interior. This magnificent six column structure represents the pinnacle of Ottoman religious architecture. Topkapi Palace; The palace where the Ottoman Empire was ruled from for about 375 years. A series of courtyards and halls contain fabulous displays of precious jewels and important religious artifacts. We visit the Hagia Sophia, originally built in 537 AD as a Greek Orthodox Church. When Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered the city in 1453 AD, it became a mosque. In 1935 it was converted to a museum. The interior, with its enormous dome, delights with glorious mosaics, galleries and suspended Islamic pendants. The Grand Bazaar; the Grand Bazaar is an essential stop on the Best of Istanbul tour. Known as the Kapali (Covered) Çarşi in Turkish, it was originally built in the middle of the 15th century. It started out as a small textile market. Now, the huge sprawling bazaar takes up 64 streets and boasts more than 20 entry gates.

In Best of Istanbul tour we visit the Hippodrome of Constantinople and the remaining monuments; the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpent Column and the Egyptian Obelisk. Next we visit the Blue Mosque famous for it's Iznik tiles with dominant blue color. Then we visit Hagia Sophia, the architectural marvel. After having lunch at a local restaurant we continue with Topkapi Palace. Our final stop is the Grand Bazaar.

Our meeting point is the German Fountain in Sultanahmet area. It is a very distinctive landmark with a green dome just at the beginning of the Hippodrome square (a.k.a. Sultanahmet Square). If you arrive by tram, get off at Sultanahmet stop and walk down the tram line about 50m, it'll be on yr right
