What you'll do
Discovering Turkish Cuisine and It's Colourful Stories... Our six-hour tour starts by exploring the markets on the European side of Istanbul. After tasting a variety of cheeses and learning everything about the Turkish spices we'll dive in the amazing variety of nuts and dried fruits. Then we take the ferry to the Asian side to visit one of the best open-air food markets in the city. Here, after exploring the market and tasting a great variety of food, we end up in one of the best restaurants who offer regional dishes from all over Turkey, each with their own traditions and stories. The food tour is limited to six people.
I am a food writer and Turkish cooking instructor with two books on food culture. I was the field coordinator of the Istanbul episode of ‘Food Lover's Guide to the Planet', a documentary for Gourmet magazine and broadcast by National Geographic TV and took part as an Istanbul food guide in the Istanbul episode of Street Eats-Europe for Travel Chanel. I have been doing walking tours on food for the last 8 years. Istanbul has a diverse cuisine with a great variety to discover. As someone writing on Turkey’s food culture for 20 years, I can guide my guests through the special tastes of Istanbul.
All the tastings during the market tour and a unique lunch in a great restaurant. Transportations during the tour.
