About your host

I am the founder and director of SeaAffinity, Inc, a Baltimore based non-profit that combines my two passions of sailing and helping people learn. My wife, Suzanne, and I learned to sail over 20 years ago, on small boats. Since then, we have owned and sailed close to 50 different boats of all sizes in the Chesapeake and the Caribbean, and delivered sailboats on the east coast. I am certified as…

About SeaAffinity, Inc

SeaAffinity uses sailing and water related experiences to challenge youth and adults, including those impacted by disabilities, to develop life skills and realize their potential. Our focus is teaching STEM skills (math and science) to intercity middle school kids through partnerships with community organizations. Our hands-on program engages kids, and gets them excited about learning.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to SeaAffinity, Inc. .

What we’ll do

If you've ever dreamed of sailing in a tropical paradise, we can help you get a great start to achieve that dream! From the very start you'll be on our stable and comfortable 36' Sabre sailboat, Condor. No time spent sitting in a boring classroom! We'll jump right in with a little hands-on theory and terminology. Then we'll cover the important safety information and head out into Baltimore…

What else you should know

We're sailing on the 36' sailboat so it's not likely you'll get wet (unless it is raining). We will sail in light rain, but not in thunderstorms. Come ready to learn and have fun!

What I’ll provide

We provide all necessary safety equipment (life jackets, etc) Our vessel is examined by the US Coast Guard every year.

What to bring

Hats, jackets, sunscreen, sunglasses
Water bottle, snacks
Wear comfortable clothes and soft soled shoes (sneakers)

Where you'll be

We start our experience in the Canton area of Baltimore, adjacent to the Canton Waterfront Park and the Korean War Memorial, just across the harbor from historic Fort McHenry. You'll be sailing in the vicinity of the historic liberty ship, the John S. Brown as well as the modern ships. You'll see the industrial side of Baltimore's harbor as well Domino Sugar, Under Armor's headquarters, and even Baltimore's own Statue of Liberty!

Guest safety

Outdoor activities carry risks, and you may be exposed to dangerous situations as part of this experience. Make sure you can participate safely given your abilities and the conditions (such as location, weather, and equipment).
