What you'll do
This is an outdoors experience steeped in science, history, and natural beauty. I will take you to a reconstructed 15th century Canadian Iroquoian village, and explore contemporary Indigenous art, culture and local history. From 1973 to 1987, excavations uncovered 11 longhouses on the site and over 10,000 artifacts from day-to-day lives of the Iroquoian people who once lived in the village. We will wandering around the Three Longhouses learning about what daily life was like over 600 years ago. While there are over 19 km of trails to explore, we will Learn about "Species at Risk" as we journey through nature, following along the Hide and Seek Trail, and see the larger than life wooden carvings. We would then visit a Rare Meromictic Lake, where the lake is deeper than its surface area and the layers of water do not intermix. We would walk along the 1.4 km elevated boardwalk that curves around this rare lake, where you might even see adorable turtles wading through the waters, birds flying through the trees and other great wildlife sights. We will stop for ice cream, snacks and souvenirs in the gift shop.
I am experienced in the history of the area & will be pointing out hidden areas of interest. My guest enjoy sharing experiences, and relating to each other while we hike. I have hosted walking hikes in various different Southern Ontario Provincial parks, hiked along the Niagara Escarpment routes, and led overnight backpacking & canoeing trips through the Algonquin area. I love Sharing my love for Nature and the outdoors and I simply can't get enough outside time. Over the past decade I have enjoyed guiding both locals and visitors to the region on their exploration & recreation in this park.
