What you'll do
We start at a busy urban intersection and within minutes are on a trail through green gems of London just a few miles north of the City. We join the New River Path, go around the East & West reservoirs, spotting birds and sailing boats still with a view of the Shard. A short stroll leads to Clissold Park where we stop for tea & cake in an 18th century mansion. We will try to spot some deer in the park. We trot along hip Church Street, pop into a chocolate shop, spot a Banksy and go through gates to another hidden gem. Abney Park is 32-acre nature reserve & cemetery with gravestones of famous non-conformists, abolitionists and writers. Winding through the Jewish quarter leads us to our final hidden green gems, Springfield Park and the Lea Valley Park overlooking the canal and marshes.
I have lived in this area for 20 years and love its green spaces. I enjoy walking and would like to share my knowledge and show people hidden gems they might miss. I am happy to talk about the history and diversity of the area and wider British culture. I am a graduate of the London School of Economics, have published three books and worked for The Guardian. I enjoy art, theatre, books, travel.
