Your host

I'm from a small town in Alabama, where being gay is not acceptable. As a result, I was disconnected from the LGBTQ community both socially and geographically. I moved to NYC, and six years later started VideoOut to conquer the challenges facing LGBTQ people. I hope that by learning LGBTQ history and amplifying the stories of our community, we create empathy that propels us towards gay liberation.

About the organisation

VideoOut amplifies the voices of LGBTQ people by archiving coming-out and ally support stories, redefining the way LGBTQ people are represented in media, and gathering thinkers and doers to solve systemic challenges facing LGBTQ people. One story is important, several are powerful, and all of our stories together are an unstoppable collective that says, "We are LGBTQ, and we deserve equality!"

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to VideoOut.

Where you'll be

From Stonewall Inn to the Little Red Schoolhouse, we'll jaunt around Manhattan, painting a picture of LGBTQ life in NYC. Some of the places we'll see include Keith Haring's studio, Eleanor Roosevelt's NYC home, a firehouse where early gay liberation activity took place, and of course, the piers.
