What you'll do

It’s a combination activity of Wagashi (Japanese confectionary) Making and Chado (Tea ceremony) experience. You'll make " Kiku (Chrysanthemum)" from September to mid-October and "Moniji(Red Maple leaves)" from mid-October to November. *I have a same kind of activity “Rice flour Manju Making & Matcha”, too https://abnb.me/EVmg/N4oVWcy67I Let's make Japanese sweets in my kitchen. I first show you the instruction video and you will try coloring Nerikiri or Konashi (very sensitive but interesting ingredients which is transformative and colorful), putting them in a shape of the season. <<You'll make "Kingyo (gpldfish) in August and Kiku (Chrysanthemum) in Sept.>> You will make 2 Wagashi. When we are done, let's go to Chashitsu (tea room). There I prepare a cup of Matcha for you one by one with traditional utensils of “Chado – Tea ceremony”. You can relax and have a Matcha(tea) & your sweets together. Through this experience I would like you to feel Japanese sweets are very close to you, as you can make it with everyday cook utensils. (*The activity is for adults.)

I'm a founder of the Wagashi salon, Yu-Art Kichijoji. I graduated from Musashino Art University, I’d been working as for a Japanese maker as an industrial designer. Throughout my life, I’ve focused on traditional Japanese art and culture. I've enjoyed collecting Ukiyo-e (Japanese antique arts) and studying traditional tea style. As tea has always been my passion, I started a career in Chado—the Way of Tea—. I offer 2 classes,” Colorful Wagashi”: https://abnb.me/EVmg/O0drZUKb8I and “Rice flour Manju”: https://abnb.me/EVmg/N4oVWcy67I I’m happy to give you a short tea ceremony, too
