What you'll do

Take a culinary journey through Central Mexico while you learn, drink, eat and meet new and fun people. In this class you'll learn to make contemporary Mexican food, a combination of street food and the food a family would share at home. This will be a hands-on experience that will help you learn new cooking techniques and learn about the Mexican culture and traditions, as well as learn how to replicate these techniques and recipes in your home kitchen. Our class will take a culinary journey through Central Mexico, using fundamental and traditional Mexican kitchen ingredients and tools. We’ll first prepare a starter and some margaritas. Next, we'll cook an ancient dish that is a staple to the Mexican cuisine. We will then learn how to make a variety of salsas, using ancient and modern techniques. You will learn to prepare a salsa in less than 5 min, and also more complex salsas that are sure to impress. Then, we'll prepare two main dishes, including tamales and hand made corn tortillas. For dessert, we'll be making some churros from scratch, paired with Mexican hot chocolate. Finally, you’ll have a chance to relax and enjoy your creations. Please let me know if you have any food allergies or restrictions and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

Learn more about Ignacio

Ignacio

I was born and raised in a small town in Hidalgo, Mexico and am excited to share our culture with you through delicious food. I developed my passion for food at a very young age by helping my mom cook our family meals and have continued to develop my love for cooking ever since. For the last 13 years, I have worked in some of San Francisco's leading restaurants, in roles ranging from Chef to Manager. I love sharing food experiences with others and am excited to combine my knowledge of Mexican cuisine and passion for sharing my culture to help you learn to create contemporary Mexican cuisine in your own kitchen. Find an up to date schedule on my website or send me a message for specific days/times not listed on the calendar that you would like to attend and I will do my best to accommodate your request! :) www.moritasf.com @morita_sf
