What you'll do
I will provide basic paddling instructions. Then, we will buddy up and get into a canoe and paddle 8.5 miles downstream. We can have 2-3 people in each canoe. The river is narrow with lots of twists and turns and requires lots of maneuvering. We will stop at 2 dams for swimming/breaks, and then take a longer lunch break at Trapper Nelson's homestead. There, we will go on a ranger led tour. The river will then widen into a brackish mangrove estuary as we paddle the last few miles. It is a strenuous paddle, but well worth it for the incredible scenery.

Where you'll be
We'll be paddling on the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River. It's a 8.5 mile paddle downstream. We start off in freshwater with Cypress trees dotting the banks covered in epiphytes. It seems like we've stepped back in time and are in a primeval forest. Then, we end in a brackish mangrove estuary.
