What you'll do

Feel the natural beauty of Ikebana—the Japanese art of flower arrangement. We’ll start by comparing traditional Japanese floral art with Western-style flower arrangements. After this, you’ll be able to feel Japanese natural beauty, and understand Japanese aesthetics and way of thinking. Ikebana is often compared to subtraction—in that you must remove the excess to express the beauty. Ikebana entails you calmly facing the flowers one by one, which requires a high level of concentration but makes you feel refreshed in the end. When you’ve finished, your Ikebana will reflect your characteristics and feelings. And even though we’ll all use the same flowers, our final works will be so different from each other. I hope you’ll appreciate the works of others and have a special memory of Japan.

Seika

I’ve been an Ikebana instructor for over 15 years. My mother is also an Ikebana instructor, so I began learning about the art when I was 10 years old. I grew up with flowers and they are a must for me. I majored in Korean at University and am interested in international cultural exchange. I’ve taught Ikebana to foreign tourists many times and I want to enjoy it with people from all over the world.
