What you'll do
The journey begins from Cusco, we will head out at an early hour around 5:30 am. It will take about 4 hours to reach the farm, after having spoken with the farmers in order for them to share information about their lifestyle we will start visiting the farm(the time will be approximately 11 am). Around 12:30 you will be invited to eat with the family. After lunch you will experience the process of either making coffee or chocolate paste, the tour will then end as the time will be approximately 4 pm. From there you will return to Cusco, Ollantaytambo or the Hydroelectric Station depending if your next plan is to go to Aguas Calientes. The visits consist of learning and experiencing yourself inside a farmers property the different processes of making coffee and/or chocolate paste; you will also learn about other fruits as the farm products are very diverse. Throughout the tour, you will also be able to experience the lifestyle of a Peruvian farmer for a day or more if you wish and will be getting information about the history behind farming on the forgotten side of the Cusco region.
My name is David Mora and I conduct coffee and cocoa tours in the region of Cusco. I have been in this sector for more than 7 years and have lived in this region all my life. I have relatives and friends that are in the farming business and I find that knowing where our daily products come from and how they are processed is important. I am passionate about nature and its inhabitants, this is why I only work with farmers who have 100% organic products. I love this job thanks to the magnificent locations I go to, I get to help out farmers that live in modest conditions and because I am able to share this knowledge with people who like to learn. When doing a one day tour, my associates are the Peréz family (coffee tour) who have been farming coffee for the last 5 years and the Guerra family who work in their farm since 9 y : (cocoa tour)
