What you'll do
The idea is to spend an afternoon experimenting the natural dyeing technique. Let's start with a chat about sustainability in fashion, natural dyeing and how to choose plants to dye fabrics. Next we go to the part where the magic happens! Here the student will learn how to prepare the fabric properly, how to extract the pigment from plants and how to dye a fabric or yarn, as well as how to take care of your piece and make the color last a long time.
All dyeing material will be available to the student, as well as gloves and an apron.
I've always worked in the fast fashion industry since I've graduated in fashion design. After a few years I left everything to open my own slow fashion business. I've always liked handcrafted techniques and for me, to be able to create something with my own hands is amazing. So, today I work at Tintórea Studio, a place dedicated to natural dyeing and botanical printing. There I teach classes and workshops about this two ancestral techniques and also develop handmade pieces.

Where you'll be
The workshop takes place in the neighborhood called Passo d'Areia, where IAPI is located, a residential area with a great architectural and historical value. The activity will take place in an antique and cozy house, in the space right next to the garden, so we will have contact with nature and an incredible view that can show us an incredible sunset at the end of the day.
