Where you'll be

We will begin our day with a brief talk about the history and purpose of our farm on the wood deck of our tiny home, a converted shipping container. The farm consists of an upper level agroecological produce garden and the lower levels of land in the cacao forest. On this walk through the forest, you will be able to identify birds, tropical and exotic fruit trees, medicinal plants, insects and mushrooms amongst other things.

Ricardo was AMAZING. The first 30 minutes or so he spent teaching us about the land and the process of harvesting and fermenting cacao. He then took us on a guided hike around the farm showing us all the different variations of cacao plants. He also showed us a wide variety of other plants such as banana, guava, taro root, soursop and sweet potato among others. We also stopped in a shaded and he began doing bird calls and explaining the species of birds near by to us. We also came across a tarantula nest! At the end of our tour we came across a stray dog which he took in as one of his own! Amazing person and experience.

Excelente experiencia!!! 🤩

Ricardo was very knowledgeable and clearly communicated about the whole process of how cocoa trees grow to how to make chocolate. We also learned about native Fauna and Flora and even got see a Coqui sitting on its eggs! We got to sample chocolate made from their harvest and I have to say it’s the best dark chocolate I’ve ever eaten. Sooooooo creamy! A culinary climax! Thank you, Ricardo!

This was an awesome experience! We learned lots and did a mild and brief hike through the farm. I would suggest wearing shoes with a good grip because you do encounter a little mud but also bring a camera. It was a beautiful experience and our host called some local birds for us to see. It was an amazing experience and we got to try the raw cocoa! Unforgettable.
