What you'll do

You'll join Margaret and Karl for daily morning or evening chores on Ten Apple Farm. We milk goats twice a day every day on our small diversified homestead, and you're invited to take part! In the morning, we start on the back porch with a light breakfast of home baked treats, coffee, tea and juice and other farm goodies. For evening chores, we end with goat milk and cookies, a selection of our goat cheeses and homemade crackers. We'll introduce the farm, talk about our journey to farming, and the past 16 years on the farm. We raise French Alpine dairy goats, and milk 3-4 goats by hand -- something we've been doing for 14 years. You'll learn how to milk the goats, help us feed the goats, and all the other animals. We have lots of animals in addition to the goats... miniature horses, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, and turkeys. We'll tour the farm, including our large kitchen garden, feeding and watering all the animals and talk about their care and the role each one plays on our diversified homestead. We'll do things like collect eggs, we might spend some time grooming our two miniature horses, and weather permitting, put the goats (with Philip, our sheep,) out in their pasture in the morning, or bring them into the barn in the evening, or take the horses for a short walk around the farm. There is lots to do and experience on the farm, morning or evening!

We might also stop in the garden and do a little gardening or harvesting. We either begin (morning) or end (evening) on the back porch overlooking the farm yard, gardens, orchard, pigs, chickens and ducks.

This was such a fun and informative experience. We learned a lot about the animals on the farm and were even able to milk the goats and feed the turkeys and ducks. Karl and Margaret were amazing hosts. They provided us with a lovely breakfast spread and shared many wonderful stories. Would highly recommend.

Thanks so much, Karl and Margaret, for making us feel at home on your farm and giving us a window into your way of life! We loved our time with you - it was so special to experience the farm and the goat magic! The breakfast treats and coffee were positively out of this world too! We will be back with more fans in tow!

My wife and I had such a great time learning about the goats and playing with them. It’s a really great experience regardless of your age and Karl & Margaret are excellent hosts. Everything from the breakfast to animals to the tour of the grounds was fantastic. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

We had a great experience at the farm. Coming from the city, we really appreciate it getting up and close with the animals, learning about their daily habits and taking care of them. Karl and Margaret made us feel welcomed, and breakfast was delicious. We totally recommend visiting the farm.

Ten Apple Farm is amazing! We enjoyed our private tour and getting to see and most importantly experience all aspects of the farm from collecting chicken eggs to bottle feeding the baby goats (so cute) and walking the miniature horses. My 9 year old daughter was ready to come back the next day to help out!
