Spring! Watch it unfold from this fantastic porch!

KimberlyRating, 5 stars5 months ago
After a hectic election season, my husband and I both work in politics, my family needed a comfortable and peaceful place to relax and recharge. The cabin was a perfect setting for just that! A cozy living room, a well appointed kitchen and an incredible front porch with lots of options for sitting and relaxing made our long weekend wonderful! It makes for a perfect getaway and has an appeal for all seasons of the year. We will definitely return at some point for another unplugged weekend.

Mulligan's Retreat on The New River

Mary BethRating, 5 stars6 months ago
It was well the drive from Charlottesville. We would love to stay another time. That is in the plans. We say lots of birds. The house was very clean and comfortable. Great kitchen and the tea was a great addition. We made most of our meals at the house. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Granny Branch Inn - Peace and tranquility

WilliamRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Charming house that truly felt like staying at Grandmom’s in the country. Large enough for a bigger family, 2 small families or a small group of friends. Lots of room to spread out. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of what would be needed for cooking meals. The surrounding area was beautiful. Perfect peaceful scenery for sitting on that front porch swing listening to the birds and watching calves chasing one another on the hillside. Freshly baked brownies were a thoughtful treat waiting for us when we arrived. Would definitely stay again.

our stay at Grandma's Cottage was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the fenced in front yard for our fur babies. She responded quickly and was very helpful. A very good price for the location.

Mountain Cabin: Vintage Charm Meets Modern Luxury

AmarisRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Lordy, we loved this place. AMAZING windows and kitchen, incredible hosts who were kind and super-responsive, wood burning stove was a delight. We didn't turn the TV on for 3 days and didn't care a bit! Can't wait to be back in the summer!

Historic Mountain Farmhouse!

ToddRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Very quaint setting. Worked out great for us as we had friends who live just a short distance away. Not sure if I just didn’t figure it out or if it wasn’t available but TV options were very limited. Other than that, it suited our needs very well.

Riverview at Walnut Grove

TaraRating, 5 stars10 months ago
Down a long gravel road, outside of the small town of Independence, is a perfect getaway on the river. The owners, Dan and Jane, own an immaculate, new, 4 BR home that they have decorated in a way that feels more like an untouched piece of history. They are welcoming and gracious hosts, who have put every effort into making this a home away from home. The driveway is steep but manageable without 4WD. The one level living is perfectly set up with a massive front porch overlooking the magnificent New River. Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own bathroom, so convenient! The kitchen is perfect to cook, eat, gather and play. We enjoyed the proximity to tubing, waterfalls, and the town of Independence for fireworks on the 4th. Our family had no reason to leave this picturesque place and spent a day fishing and swimming in the cool, clear river across the street. Bring a book, a tube, or a kayak and simply enjoy this place like we did, Dan & Jane thank you for the R&R! This place is perfect!

Foxfire Ridge Retreat

nahalieRating, 5 stars4 months ago
The cabin is awesome, very well equipped and comfortable. We were 11 and 2 dogs and we had a beautiful time for Christmas and New years. Michelle is absolutely a great host, very flexible with check-in and check-out times and responded quickly and very nicely at all times. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful and great quality time. We had 5 teenagers and they absolutely loved being there watching movies and playing board games.

"Piece of A Full" mountain

RobinRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Beautiful, scenic view and lots of peace and privacy! As depicted in the photos. My dog and I loved watching the sunrise and sunset view from the patio overlook, and walking the trails on the property. Was a little hard to find the driveway entrance to the property via gps, and my Honda fit could not make it up the steep gravel driveway.

Peaceful Holler

IkeRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I loved the cabin! I wanted to get away and unplug from technology and it would've been hard to pick a better spot for me and my dog. It was a quick drive to Grayson Highlands State Park. There was also a corner store near by attached to a restaurant in case you want a quick bite. The cabin was so peaceful! Loved listening to the birds chirping from the rocking chair/swing and the gorgeous views of the mountain. My dog loved having so much space to run around. The fenced in backyard was perfect too for when I wasn't able to keep an eye on her.

NEWLY RENOVATED Tommy's Bearwatch Cabin

HaroldRating, 5 stars10 months ago
We had a wonderful stay at Tommy’s Bearwatch Cabin in Mouth of Wilson, VA. The home was well- appointed with modern updates including laminated floors and a step-in shower. The refrigerator was very cold, and the gas stove worked well. The large kitchen sink made cleaning up easy. The water flowed freely and was very hot. Wall mounted streaming TV and internet worked well during our stay. The main bedroom had a nice view out to the woods and the French doors in the living room and bedroom allowed a pleasant flow of fresh air. The location is beautiful and was perfect, being just down the road from the entrance to Grayson Highland State Park. The driveway was steep, but even our low-profile sedan made the grade and allowed for turnaround at the top near the front entrance. Flossie was very responsive and made sure that we felt welcome and care free, and she had suggestions for places to eat and visit. A quiet place for a getaway at a higher altitude with cooler temps for hot summer days

Rugby Mountain House Unplugged

KyleRating, 5 stars1 day ago
My friend and I stayed at Alison's place before and after a trail race at Grayson Highlands State Park. The house could not be more conveniently located, with beautiful views, quiet surroundings, a great covered porch, and a 10 minute drive to the park entrance. The beds were hands-down the most comfortable I've slept in at an AirBnB and the house was spotless. We did not bring dogs but I can see why people would - lots of good dog-walking outside the house, and some nice dog amenities in the house - but other than that no signs that dogs had ever been there - not a hair in sight. While recovering from the race we had fun watching some DVDs in the collection, and we had a good meal at the Red Dog Restaurant which is only 15 minutes down the road. The lack of internet and cell service did not bother us in the least - the house has a land line which we used to check in with our families, and we downloaded offline maps on Google Maps for the surrounding area, and we had no trouble at all.
