Stay Protection Privacy Notice

Please note that this Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to additional personal information processing carried out by us in order to distribute Stay Protection to Airbnb Guests through the Airbnb platform.

1. APPLICATION.

This Notice (“Notice”) provides additional information about the processing of personal information in connection with the insurance policies and insurance claims of individuals residing in Australia where Stay Protection is offered to Airbnb Guests through the Airbnb platform (“Stay Protection”).

2. WHO PROCESSES MY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

2.1 Airbnb Entities. 

Where this Notice mentions “Airbnb,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to Airbnb Ireland UC and Airbnb Australia Insurance Services PTY Limited (“Airbnb AIS”). The two entities process your data independently of each other – Airbnb Ireland UC is responsible for information related to the booking for which Stay Protection applies, and Airbnb AIS processes your information relating to Stay Protection, as an authorised representative of Chubb Insurance Australia Limited (“Chubb”), to distribute Stay Protection.

2.2 Chubb. 

Stay Protection is provided by Chubb. For information about how Chubb handles your personal information, and how Chubb deals with matters like those described in this Notice, see Chubb’s Combined Product Disclosure Statement (“PDS”) and Financial Services Guide (“FSG”) for Stay Protection. The combined PDS/FSG also applies to Airbnb AIS where it is acting as an authorised representative of Chubb, and explains that authorised representative role further.

3. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT.

If you choose to purchase Stay Protection, we may collect the below personal information:

3.1 Personal Information You Choose to Give Us.

• Contact Information. Such as your first name, last name, email address, date of birth, mailing address, and phone number.
• Booking Information. Such as information about your trip needed to create the Stay Protection policy (“Policy”), including trip start and end date, trip cost, and listing address.

3.2 Personal Information We Collect from Chubb.

• If you submit a claim under a Policy, Chubb sends us your claim status (i.e., draft, submitted, reviewed, approved, closed, denied). Chubb may share certain claim information with us, including claim type, status, claim reason, claim amount submitted and paid, and when your claim was processed. If you make a claim under a Policy, we may also receive information regarding your claim in order to provide you with customer service and improve our platform.

4. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT.

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

4.1 Distribute and Manage Your Insurance Policy. 

Such as to:

• Collect the information required for Chubb to create your Policy;
• Make changes to your Policy if you decide to change your trip;
• Cancel your Policy if you decide to cancel your Policy.

4.2 Improve and Develop Our Product. 

Such as to determine the effectiveness of the program and improve the Stay Protection product by:

• Performing analytics, debugging and conducting research;
• Improving the user experience;
• Providing customer service and training.

4.3 Create and Maintain a Trusted and Safe Environment. 

Such as to:

• Detect and prevent fraud and security incidents.

5. SHARING AND DISCLOSURE.

We work with our partner Chubb to provide you with the Stay Protection product. Chubb is the insurance company providing Stay Protection for Airbnb Guests and is licensed to sell insurance products in Australia. We share your personal information with them to enable them to price and provide your Policy. This includes information about your Policy and trip and personal information, including your name, contact details, and date of birth, and any other information described in Section 3 of this Notice. This information is required to meet Chubb’s obligations in connection with the Stay Protection product, including applicable legal and regulatory obligations, in order to complete the purchase. We may also share your personal information with other third parties as set out in our Privacy Policy.

6. YOUR RIGHTS. 

You benefit from data subject rights pursuant to applicable law. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. We may ask you to verify your identity and request before taking further action on your request. 7. OPERATING GLOBALLY AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS. 

As explained above in Section 5 of this Notice, in order to provide Stay Protection, we share the personal information we collect with Chubb, which may include the transfer of your personal information outside of Australia, including Brazil, Ireland, and the United States.
