This Notice (“Notice”) provides additional information about the processing of personal information in connection with the insurance policies and insurance claims of individuals residing in the selected EU jurisdictions where Reservation Insurance is offered to Airbnb Guests through the Airbnb platform (“Reservation Insurance”).
Where this Notice mentions “Airbnb,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to Airbnb Ireland UC and Airbnb Ireland Insurance Services Limited (“AIIS”), which are the Airbnb entities responsible for your information and data controllers if you reside in the EU for the Reservation Insurance. The two entities process your data independently - Airbnb Ireland UC is responsible for information related to the reservation of your accommodation for which the Reservation Insurance applies and AIIS is an independent controller of the information it processes to distribute the Reservation Insurance. The Reservation Insurance product is underwritten by Europ Assistance S.A., Irish Branch (“Europ Assistance”), who also acts as an independent data controller of your personal information. This Notice does not address how Europ Assistance or other third parties handle your personal information, see their privacy notice for more information.

We work with our partner Europ Assistance to provide you with the Reservation Insurance product. Europ Assistance is the insurance company underwriting the Reservation Insurance for Airbnb Guests and is licensed to sell insurance products in the EU. We share with them personal information we collect as necessary to enable them to price and provide your Policy. This includes information about your Policy, your trip, and personal information including your name, contact details and date of birth, and any other information described in Section 3 of this Notice that is required to meet their obligations in connection with the Reservation Insurance product, including any legal and regulatory obligations, in order to complete the purchase. We may also share your personal information with other third parties as set out at Section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
We process your personal information as necessary to conclude and perform our contract with you to deliver your Reservation Insurance.

We retain information related to the Reservation Insurance program for a period of up to four years to fulfil our contractual obligations to you and improve your experience on the Airbnb platform. Where a legal obligation arises or retention is advisable in light of our legal position, in some circumstances, we will retain certain personal information for a longer period, even after your account has been deleted, for example:
As explained above in Section 5 of this Notice, in order to provide Reservation Insurance, we share the personal information we collect with Europ Assistance. We have established the necessary means to ensure an adequate level of data protection for any personal information transferred outside the EEA. For any personal information transferred from the EEA to the United Kingdom a European Commission adequacy decision applies. We have also put in place standard contractual clauses within Airbnb and with the relevant third parties to protect personal information and comply with data protection law.
