“We had the best time in Bikaner! It was the highlight of our Rajastan Tour! Our expectations where highly exceeded! Jazz and Manoj have build a wonderful, loving guest house that is a place to relax and unwind. We have quite a few highlights to mention, e.g. we fell in love with the location of the house, it is well located in walking distance to the fort and to streetfood and shops. It is in a residential area, so you get an authentic impression of Bikaner and the neighbours are super friendly and excited to have us as visitors in the city. The rooftop with the handmade, colorful paintings is the best place to enjoy the sun and relax while reading a book or for breakfast, lunch dinner. Lets talk food! Have you ever wondered if there even exists such a thing as organic food in India?! Well chef Manoj makes sure you get the best organic, regional and seasonal Indian dishes you will find in India. Please note that since it is a zero waste house, they might ask you upfront what you want to order for the next meal so that they can better plan what to buy. I love that food does not go to waste here! Do not miss the opportunity to talk to Jazz or Manoj about their social business that aims at educating locals and making a change in India with regard to zero waste and sustainability. What to do when in Bikaner? We booked a city tour and a camel tour at Hara House and recommend both strongly as you get an authentic and unique tour with a personal touch. In total we stayed two nights and we would have loved to stay longer. During the three days that we had in Bikaner everything was inspired by recommendations from either Jazz or Manoj, e.g. dinner at a roof top Restaurant Antares, or a tea at a near by palace. In the end we just enjoyed taking it slow and enjoying a vegan coconut milk chai tea on the rooftop. Also, this was the first time that I was completely fine with using a squat toilet and a bucket shower as it felt so authentic and also because the house is really clean. Oh, and since the Hara House is still fairly new, Taxi/Tuk Tuks might have difficulties finding it. Often we told the driver the nearby temple Mata Mandir and then walked the last fest steps. If you are in Rajastan, check this place out! Hara House Bikaner rocks!”
