Guest Safety Checklist
To improve safety awareness and to avoid travel risks are the prerequisites of safe travels. This checklist includes safety tips for checking in Airbnb listings and for the whole stays, such as how to exchange the key with the host, how to ensure the safety of the stay, what should we pay attention to when travelling with children, and so on.
Safety checklist for check-ins
Confirm the details of the listing in advance
  • Before checking in, please confirm with the host the check-in time and key handover details, including how to contact the host if you arrive late.
  • Remember to save the address of the listing and the host's phone number, in case you can't use the Airbnb app because of internet connection problems.
  • Familiarize yourself with the neighbourhood in advance, especially the main roads and signposts, and make sure you know how to get to the listing.
  • If you're travelling with kids, we recommended that you reconfirm any house rules related to children with the host, such as the safety of windows and stairs.
  • Please remember to share the listing info and the check-in time with your family in advance.
  • Log in to the Airbnb website, click on your profile image in the top right corner, and add at least one emergency contact by clicking on "Edit your profile".
  • Check out the house rules under "Me" – "Trips" in the Airbnb mobile app, and communicate with the host to confirm certain details, such as the check-in/check-out time, whether pets are allowed, etc.
Tips for safe stays
  • After checking in, please confirm the hosts' contact number and emergency contact information.
  • Please ask the host about emergency escape routes or evacuation shelters, as well as the location of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.
  • Please check whether the listing is equipped with a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector. If installed, please confirm with the host whether they are turned on; if not, please pay attention to indoor ventilation to prevent any incidents.
  • Please confirm with the host about how to use appliances, gas stoves, heating, lighting and bathing equipment.
  • Please confirm with the host the use instructions of swimming pool, slide, swing and other recreational facilities.
  • Ask the host for advice on travel near the neighbourhood, such as late night safety precautions.
  • If you're travelling with kids, please check with the host for safety precautions, such as whether windows, staircases or swimming pools are fitted with guardrails.
  • If you're travelling with kids, please make sure they are taken care of, and do not leave the children alone at the listing.
Checkout tips
  • Please communicate with the host in advance to coordinate any checkout details, such as the checkout time and about how the key hand-off should happen.
  • Please make sure that the water and electricity are turned off or are in good working condition.
Safe travel checklist
  • Remember to buy travel insurance in advance.
  • Check out the destination info before your trip to learn about things like safety, weather, traffic, communication, etc.
  • Please make copies of your IDs and keep them separate from the originals.
  • Do not carry a large amount of cash.
  • Please learn and respect local laws and customs.
  • Please take note of the weather department's forecast of natural disasters such as rainstorms, typhoons and floods; avoid outdoor activities before bad weather.
  • Do not carry and store flammable and dangerous goods.
