“We were a group of 6 students who stayed for 2 nights at this homestay, and had a wonderful time. The Airbnb in itself is beautiful, quaint and clean- the most adorable place we've stayed in :) There was a little Christmas tree in the hall and an angeethi and heaters were provided. It is situated in a quiet area, about 2-3 hours from Shimla and is ideal for a relaxing getaway. We took long walks, enjoyed the breathtaking views and relaxed in the garden with uncle, Shadow (their cute and completely docile dog) and also a fluffy little cat which ran past sometimes. The marketplace is a 5 minute drive from the Airbnb and Digvijay uncle was nice enough to take us there when required and provide us with whatever amenities we needed. Suresh bhiaya is an amazing cook and took care of all our meals. He prepared delicious paneer, chicken curry and parathas which we all enjoyed immensely. Uncle and Suresh bhaiya stay on the first floor so they were always present to help us out whenever required. Bashita ma'am was also available via phone and called to make sure that we were comfortable. Due to the snow, we faced some issues in terms of road blocks and transport- buses were not running. But again, Digvijay uncle really went out of his way to arrange transportation for us. He was on his phone for several hours, reaching out to his contacts and made sure that we reached back safely, no matter how inconvenient it was for him. He could have easily asked us to make our own arrangements, but he chose to help us out and for that we are very grateful. I would recommend bringing your own vehicle (during winter) to avoid these issues with transport. Having said that, despite the road blocks, we got to see and play with snow in Kufri (which is on the way) and witnessesed snowfall in Kotkhai on the first night. We had not seen snowfall before and it was the most magical experience. We truly had a great time and we owe it all to the incredible hospitality and consideration on their part. We will definitely stay over again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet time away from the city.”
A 4 bed room apple farm house with stunning views of the beautiful Himalayas, the Chadha Apple Orchard Farm stay is an elegant spread. Spend the day amidst apple orchards and pick your own fruits from 6 Acres of Apple, Pears and Plum Farms. Read a book or enjoy a cup of tea in your private balcony overlooking the apple orchards and the majestic mountains or spend the night star-gazing from an all-glass attic room. There is also a private sit-out area, perfect for a bonfire evening.
“We drove from Delhi to Kotkhai. The directions given by Tarun were perfect. It was an arduous drive and at the fag end of the which we were tired and thinking where actually are we going. We arrived around 5pm.From Delhi's 45degrees to kotkhai's 20 degrees we suddenly seemed to have landed in heaven. There's something magical about the house, the aura and vibrations are so much in harmony with nature and peaceful. We were greeted with a warm bath and yummy hot pakoras by caretaker Raju and the cook Vicky.Tarun had in advance taken the food menu from us and Vicky dished out one dish after another to our utter delight. The house made of wood and mud had a sweet smell of wood and sorrounded on all sides by apple trees and thereafter dense forest vegetation, truely a delight for your senses.Theres a glass room at the top which gives a 270degrees view 0f the valley and we sitting almost on the top, breathtaking !!! Our host had taken the pain for arranging daily yoga sessions and guided nature walks for us.On these walks we had the wonderfull experience of bathing in amazing waterfalls, simply blissfull !!! Reaching back home tired and hungry after long walks we were pampered with delicacies by Vicky ,what more can 1 ask for, everything in place to perfection.I travel a lot and have seen a lot of places, but theres something special about this place, simple, clean and the elements of nature and hospitality working in harmony.TV and internet are available but we dint feel like having access to the outside world at all, just immersing ourselves in the mother nature around us..We left the place with very heavy but happy hearts with a promise to ourselves to return back for a much longer duration.Thank you so much Tarun and team for such a memorable time.Your place is a dream destination for nature lovers..With tears of happiness in my eyes and with the fond memories i say bye to Tarun :)”
This is something new that I have started. Being a superhost in Manali, now its time to move towards my native land. Where I was born. Its a small village in upper part of Shimla. Name of my village is Gagna. So basically plan is to explore the hidden beauty of mountains and offer a farm stay in village with a trekking to Churdhar peak. Here one can experience a peaceful village life with no hustle and bustle. Just a pure nature and apple farms around the valley. Pure and pollution free nature.
“Fabulous family, Bhupinder is an awesome host. Small village GAGNA, nestled in the Sivaliks, at about 80 kms away from Shimla. Bhupinders Mom, Mrs Urmila, is truly a wonder women, working round the clock and attending all the activities with such an awesome ease, she ensured we get the best taste of the food of the "Dev Bhumi" & also knowing how it is made. We loved the local food "SIDDU" , these are cooked cakes, made out of all purpose flour + Jaggery + Hemp seeds and the cake is dipped in PURE GHEE, yes we all enjoyed those unsaturated fats !! Slurped in fact ;-) One small trek, should be 500 meters climb, to the Kali mandir through three feet snow, gave us the beauty view of the valley from the top. Climb worth attempting for an hour, which in an non snow time would take about 10 mins. The 500+ year old "Bijat Maharaj Mandir " Its a tall pagoda type structure, where u can get to go up to the third floor of the temple through a ladder like stairs, brass fittings very narrow and seriously architectural marvel & offer prayers to the local deity. We had a fabulous time exploring the majestic mountains ! The historic temples of those rustic villages !! Most importantly the sweet people all around ! shy & looking with awe .. One instance, when i tried befriending a little boy walking with his elder sister, he simply touched my feet for blessing and ran off .. shy but sticking to the basics taught to him by his elders - "Pair Choona" totally touched .. Bhupinders father showed us all around their Apple orchards and the process of growing apples. Yes, will visit again during apple harvest time to pluck & eat :-) Those who are from cities Must make a point to visit this place, with Kids, spend some good 3-4 days and explore the nice environment. Me, My wife Anu & my Kids would like to thank Bhupinder for such a wonderful memorable time we had at his Home Thanks Bhupinder !! PS : The mobile connectivity is fantastic and rest assured you are not going out of civilization !”
